What we’re looking for

Sangfroid Strategy is seeking an experienced consultant to join our team to support a growing portfolio of nonprofit, government, and philanthropic organizations across the country.

Position Summary

The Lead Consultant, Data-driven Strategy leads data-driven strategy and implementation project-based consulting projects for nonprofit and philanthropic customers. This position works across the consulting portfolio to conduct data analysis, dashboard development, strategy, and facilitation.

Duties and Responsibilities


      • Serves as a lead consultant for clients within Sangfroid Strategy’s consulting portfolio.
      • Manages client relationships that lead to the facilitation of prototyping, program development and improvement, data-driven strategy, strategic planning, and implementation planning for social impact organizations, using Sangfroid Strategy’s approaches.
      • Develops client-ready final reports, presentations, and presents to clients and others.
      • Synthesizes, analyzes, and converts complex information, data, and insights into straightforward concepts.
      • Enhances the Company’s learning and supports cross-training as appropriate regarding data analysis, dashboard development, facilitation and strategy development, and other skills.

      Presentations and workshops

      • Conduct workshops and presentations at conferences and to groups, virtually, in-person, or through other modalities as needed.

      General project support

      • Supports other projects, team members and company advancement activities as a member of the Sangfroid Strategy team as needed.
      • Effectively manages work with subcontractors, interns, and admin support across projects.
      • Other duties as required.

      All consultants on our team are cross-trained in both of our core service specialities, however, some consultants have deeper expertise in one area. Applicants can apply with a specialization within one these two core service areas, or serve as a generalist across both business areas.       Data Analysis and Dashboard Development

      • Synthesizes, analyzes, and converts complex information, data, and insights into straightforward concepts.
      • Builds internal data collection and presentation infrastructure to position Sangfroid Strategy’s portfolio to include innovative data visualization and presentation offerings, including integrating final assessment summaries into Google Data Studio, Tableau, or other data presentation tools.
      • Enhances the Company’s learning and supports cross-training regarding data analysis and dashboard development.

      Strategy Development and Facilitation

      • Advanced knowledge of the field of strategy development and planning at organization and collaboration level.
      • Advanced practice and knowledge of small and large-group facilitation.
      • Serves as project advisor across company portfolio on engagement, complex facilitation, and strategy development.
      • Enhances the Company’s learning and supports cross-training regarding facilitation and strategy development.

        Technical Expertise

        • Experience with professional project-based work interacting with executive-level leadership is required.
        • Experience and formal training in group facilitation and public speaking is required.
        • Experience and practice in strategy development for organizations is required.
        • Experience and practice of facilitation of small and large groups.
        • Experience and training in project management is required.
        • Experience performing qualitative research, including research design, interviews, focus groups, survey administration, qualitative coding, analysis, and presentation of research is required.
        • Experience performing quantitative research including new data collection and existing data gathering, database preparation, dashboard development, formatting and cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, and presentation of research is strongly preferred.
        • Working knowledge of data analysis and dashboard development practice is preferred.
        • Knowledge and application of how to take key findings from data and use them to support strategy development.

        Technology and Tools

        • Proficiency in Google Suite or similar software is required.
        • Experience with the following technology and software tools is preferred: Asana, Canva, Google Data Studio / Other visualization software, MURAL / Jamboard, Survey Monkey

        Education and Experience

        • Education: Master’s degree in the Social Sciences, Organizational Development, Nonprofit Management, or related field is preferred.
        • Certifications or licensure: None.
        • Years of relevant experience: 5 to 7 years is preferred.
        • Years of experience supervising: None required, 1-3 preferred.

        Additional considerations

        • Preference for candidates in midwest & eastern US
        • Work from home primarily with quarterly in person team and client meetings (Cleveland, Ohio)

        Working Conditions and Physical Requirements [Light]

        • The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of offices, which includes the need for general safe workplace practices with office equipment and computers, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations.
        • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
        • This position is generally performed in a home-office setting although occasional off-site internal and client meetings in various settings occur.
        • The schedule is generally normal EST business hours (8a - 5p) although there is sometimes the need to perform work, attend meetings and events before or after normal working hours, and occasionally on weekends and evenings.
        • Some travel by personal automobile and a valid drivers’ license is required. Occasional overnight travel is required.
        • Lift light objects [less than 20 pounds] and carry them short distances [20 feet or less].
